There is love…and there is LOVE…

Is being in love and loving someone the same? My friend Kathy asked me.
This is perfect, with Valentine’s Day just around the corner February is a great month to talk about love.

I thought long and hard, and my answer is no, being in love and loving someone are not the same. Let me share my thoughts with you…

I know there is a scientific explanation of hormones being released into our nervous system, making us feel good, supposedly equivalent to eating large amounts of chocolate. I’m all for the chocolates and love.

Being in love is a feeling we get when the relationship is new. Loving someone is when the falling in love wears off and the new feeling takes its place. They are different, but in my humble opinion both equally important.

I also believe there are few different types of love. We love a partner differently than we love a child or a parent or even a friend, but that is not what I was thinking about when I chose a title for this post. There are two types of love worth living for.

A first love, usually during teenage years we find that first person, boy or girl, that makes our knees go weak, our heart race and that person is all we can think about. I blame teenage hormones for the lack of concentration, but in truth, first love is the stuff of legends and best love stories ever written “Romeo and Juliet” “Tristan and Isolde” noted first is a tragedy, still that kind of love is what moves the world. First love stays with us forever, the freckles, the long dark lashes, the square jaw and the most brilliant eye color. Hopelessly romantic, most of us have tendency to make it ideal. Be as it may without it and the heartbreak it brings, we could never grow as people.

The second love, is the mature love of adulthood. This love is mature and wonderful. It is love that gives us strength to commit to a person for better and worse, to share everyday life, to have a child and forever tie their lives. It is love guided not by hormones (although sometimes it feels like it) but by trust, understanding, and the need to share all of the wonderful things life brings our way.

Only some of us are fortunate enough to fall in love and stay with that person long enough for the mature love to bloom. I hope you will experience them both, as they are truly wonderful.
So my dear Kathy, you can be in love with someone and love them at the same time.
Until next time,
Eve

<![CDATA[2013 Resolutions]]>Tue, 01 Jan 2013 02:30:39 GMThttp://eajames.com/1/post/2012/12/2013-resolutions.html
2013 Things to do, stories to write...

Since you can’t see me, I’m laughing out loud. I made New Years resolutions in the past, and didn’t stick to them. The problem was, I set unrealistic goals. Discouraged I didn’t meet them , I just stopped. Overall I think New Years resolutions are crap. You should do what you love all year and you don’t need a new year to make you a better person.

Please observe the parking lot at your gym or local YMCA. Isn’t it annoying that around holidays, and right after the first of the year, there is no spot insight? Personally I am offended by that. If you want to work out do it all year long. I don’t mind walking half a mile just to swim few laps, but come on people, don’t give up after a month. (or do, so I can park closer)

This year I decided to come up with a list of projects to finish and share them with you. This way there is someone who can call me on the things I didn’t do. I arranged them by calendar, so it is easier for me to follow.

Interview two authors that changed my life.

February - since it’s a month dedicated to love, write about love.

March - release “Wind Of Change” Part I of the Element of Water and Fire short story

June - publish Part II of the Element of Water and Fire e-book short story

September - publish part III of the Element of Water and Fire e-book short story

December - publish in a book format Element of Water and Fire collection

Blog each month about things that move me and make me who I am, share personal experiences and failures. Read two books a month.

This is my set of goals.

Until next time,

Eve

<![CDATA[I Am Rose CoverĀ ]]>Sun, 23 Dec 2012 02:09:57 GMThttp://eajames.com/1/post/2012/12/i-am-rose-cover.htmlHappy Holidays, Merry Christmas to all,

I’ve received a cover sample for my collection of Rose Windham stories “I Am Rose” This will be published as a book via Amazon CreateSpace.

The process was long, and choosing image that will fit the story was hard. Finally, after weeks it is done, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. I would appreciate your comments.

“I Am Rose” contains all three “Rose Awaken”, “Rose Discovered” and “Rose Revealed” stories as well as “Rose, Pieces of Me” bonus story. It will be available in January 2013.

I love it,
Until next time,

<![CDATA["The Next Big Thing" Blog Tour]]>Tue, 18 Dec 2012 17:15:56 GMThttp://eajames.com/1/post/2012/12/the-next-big-thing-blog-tour.htmlI was honored by being tagged by Helen C. Johannes. She is an author and Epic Award Winner in Fantasy Romance Category.

She is working on another great project so check it out.

Visit her blog at http://helencjohannes.blogspot.com

What is the title of your next book?

Next book to be published is “Wind of Change” Element of Wind and Fire Trilogy

Where did the idea come from for the book?

I have introduced Luke Belmont at the end of “Rose Revealed” without giving him a name. Back then, he was just the young man who saved Rose Windham’s life and he smelled like the ocean.

When I started to work on idea for the next installment of Rose Windham’s story, I realized that I know very little about the two young men that are her future. Their story was too important to leave alone. The events that took place in Luke’s and Kristian’s childhood, alter their paths and shape their future.

What genre does your book fall under?

Young Adult paranormal. It is a story of growing up and testing friendships.

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
Picture

Luke Belmont would be played by Steven R. McQueen. Confident young man with big heart who is willing to sacrifice anything for a friend, and even after betrayal still sees only the best in people.

Picture

Kristian Donahue is the dark and handsome Brant Daugherty. He is everyone’s favorite golden boy on the outside, but pure darkness on the inside.

He is a typical nature versus nurture, which one will win is not entirely up to him.

Picture

Rose Windham is not only beautiful, but smart and kind. She is Alexis Knapp. Without memory of who she is and where she came from, it is not the past she doesn’t remember that will define her, but the choices she makes in the present.

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

Luke Belmont would do anything for his best friend so it is up to him to save Kristian Donahue from his father’s ridicule and abuse before Kristian’s choices turn him into the monster his father wants him to be and best friends become mortal enemies.

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

I love writing and would like one day be represented by an agent, but this story will be self published

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

The manuscript is half way done, I am planning on finishing first draft by March 2013

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

I write from the heart, about things I haven’t read before, hoping that my readers will find my voice fresh and exciting. There are many wounded heroes, in Young Adult stories, like Jace Wayland, from the Mortal Instruments series, Ren Laroche in Nighshade series, Luke and Kristian are no different.

Who or What inspired you to write this book?

I always start with a scene, this book was no different. I started with writing fight scene between Luke and Kristian. My best friend from childhood was an inspiration for Luke. He was the most honest and selfless person I’ve ever met in my life, his sister was very much like Kristian. I believe ties of friendship between two young men are more dynamic and I wanted to explore that in this book.

What else about your book might pique the reader interest?

“Wind of Change” is a story of growing up. This story explores the dark side of friendship. What situations define your life? When does a boy become a man?

I have talked enough about my new story, and it is time for me to share the next group of talented writes I think you should hear about. Please visit their blogs and read about “The Next Big Thing” coming from them:

<![CDATA[Writers Do Listen, I know I do...]]>Wed, 28 Nov 2012 23:22:59 GMThttp://eajames.com/1/post/2012/11/writers-do-listen-i-know-i-do.htmlAs a writer, there is nothing more exciting and petrifying than sharing your work. I have a story, a character , a friend who I want to share with the world. Rose Windham is that friend. Her story came to me in pieces. Getting to know her was fun. I am still learning her pet peeves, and oh boy does she have many...
When I received an email from Ella, I was surprised. Thank you for writing. You see Ella, she wanted to know more about Sebastian.
It was her comments that made me give Sebastian new voice. I worked on revising "Rose Awaken" to include more of his thoughts. This was after all the story that started the series.
So now, "Rose Awaken" is finished, and available for free, yes free, at smashwords.com
Ella, thank you for reading the story and taking your time to write, you see the authors listen... at least I know I do.
Until next time
